$60.00

Date: Monday, June 16, 2025

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. PST (Virtual)

The USA is increasing a diverse society and is projected to become a majority minority nation by 2040 (U.S Census Bureau, 2015: 2018b) Inspite of the increase in diversity, the majority of the clinicians in the therapeutic represent a given section of society - herein referred to as the WEIRD people (Western Educated Industrialized Rich and Democratic: Henrich et al, 2010), whose realities may not resonate with those served. Its hence important that attention is given to the differences within the cultural construct. This short course aims at highlighting the challenges and opportunities that are faced by OTs & SLPs as they work in an increasingly diverse society. Consequently, the expectation shall be that with their increase in awareness of the reality of differences within the therapeutic encounter, the clinicians shall use the knowledge to improve the quality of service provided to the patients.
