Integrating Sensory and Speech: A Pediatric Collaborative Approach
Date: Tuesday, November 11, 2025
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. PST (Virtual)
Location: ZOOM (link will be sent prior to event)
This course explores the intersection of sensory integration and speech-language development, with a focus on collaborative approaches between occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists. Participants will review the foundations of sensory processing, examine how sensory regulation impacts communication, and learn strategies for integrating sensory-based activities into speech therapy sessions. The course will also address how to incorporate and encourage communication as a means to support participation in meaningful occupations, including play, learning, and social interaction. Using practical examples and case applications, the presenters will highlight how access to sensory-rich environments and therapeutic equipment can enhance children’s regulation, attention, and communication skills. By the end of the course, practitioners will understand evidence-based methods for applying sensory and communication strategies to promote health, development, and functional participation across home, school, and community settings.
